Aromatherapy for Anxiety & Depression

I have dealt with anxiety and depression for as long as I can remember. I used to let anxiety control my life physically, mentally, and emotionally. I would avoid events, parties, classes, workshops, and appointments. About two and a half years ago, I decided to take a leap and (try to) attend a workshop led by nine badass women. I had a plan to sit on the end near the bathroom in case I started to panic. I had an exit strategy. I had snacks (I am always concerned about food!). I had a plan to leave the room during the dance portion. I had essential oils in my bag. And I had parked very close in case I had to leave. I took the event minute-by-minute and focused on my breath. I don’t remember much about the event other than I made it through the WHOLE THING, even the dancing portion!

Aromatherapy does not cure or treat anxiety or depression but it can help relieve symptoms.

Aromatherapy has been a huge help in relieving anxiety and depression symptoms for me. As you can see by my story, and maybe your own, both can be extremely difficult. Some common symptoms of anxiety include nervousness, panic, increased heart rate, weakness, nausea, and dizziness. Depression can manifest in aches, pains, anger, fatigue, insomnia, poor memory, and feeling hopeless or worthless. Aromatherapy does not cure or treat anxiety or depression but it can help relieve symptoms. I’m so excited to share this therapeutic recipe with you!

In this blend, Clary sage reduces stress and feelings of hopelessness; frankincense enhances mood and calms the nervous system, geranium uplifts and restores confidence; lavender lowers anxiety levels and slows racing thoughts; and red mandarin strengthens and supports.


  • 10ml euro dropper bottle
  • 14 drops Clary sage
  • 28 drops Frankincense
  • 28 drops Geranium
  • 70 drops Lavender
  • 70 drops Red Mandarin

Directions: Place all of the essential oils in the 10ml bottle and gently swirl the bottle for about 1 minute.

This blend can be used in a variety of ways to relieve anxiety and depression symptoms:

– Diffuser: Place 8-12 drops in a diffuser.
– Room Spritzer: Fill a 2oz spray bottle with water. Add 20 drops of this blend, shake well, and spritz around the room. Shake before each use.
– Inhaler: Place 30 drops of te blend in a bowl. Place the cotton pad from an inhaler in the bowl to absorb the oil. Using a tweezers, place the cotton pad back in the inhaler and put the cap on tightly. Use as needed throughout the day.
– Topically: Dilute with a carrier oil and apply to the bottoms of your feet, the back of your neck, over your kidneys or wrists so you can inhale anytime you need.

Avoid sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after applying product. For external use only.
